SlowBird is made by Unseen Forms Limited (company 14395660, England). By downloading or using SlowBird you agree to these terms. They are short on purpose, so please actually read them.

Your licence

One purchase gives you a personal licence to install and use SlowBird on up to two computers you use, Mac or Windows in any mix, for your own music practice and study. It is not a licence to redistribute the app, resell licence keys, or offer SlowBird as a service to others. Updates are included. The free 7-day trial licence covers one computer.

Recording

SlowBird can record the audio your computer is playing. This feature is provided solely for your personal practice and study, and using it is your responsibility: SlowBird gives you no rights in what you record. Recording, keeping, or redistributing copyrighted material without permission may be unlawful in your state or country, and capturing audio from a service may also breach that service's own terms. Recording other people (a call, a lesson) may require their consent where you live. If you are not sure you have the right to record something, don't.

Your content

SlowBird is a practice tool for learning music by ear. You import the recordings you practise with, and you are responsible for having the right to use them. SlowBird does not supply any recording, video or other third-party material, and does not grant you any rights to it.

Web imports

SlowBird can use yt-dlp, a separate open-source program that you choose to install, to import from web pages. SlowBird does not include yt-dlp, does not control what it can fetch, and is not responsible for how you use it. Where a site's terms or the law do not allow copying, do not import from it. Recording what your computer is playing is likewise your own responsibility. There is more about importing from the web.

Refunds

SlowBird has a free 7-day trial, so you can find out whether it suits you before you pay. Because of that, and because your licence key is delivered the moment you pay, a purchase is not refundable for a change of mind: at checkout you ask for the key straight away and agree that this ends the 14-day right to cancel that would otherwise apply. None of this affects your legal rights if SlowBird is faulty or not as described. If something is wrong, tell us and we will put it right, or refund you where the law says we must.

Privacy

SlowBird is a local tool. Your audio and your library stay on your computer. The app contacts slow-bird.com to check for updates and to activate and periodically reconfirm your licence; it sends nothing about your audio or your library when it does. The microphone is never used.

This website asks before it sets any advertising cookie. If you say yes, it loads Google Ads’ tag, which sets Google cookies that tell us which ad brought you here and whether that visit ended in a purchase (its amount, never your name or email). If you say no, nothing of Google’s loads at all. You can change your mind at any time with “Cookie settings” at the foot of every page.

No warranty, and a limit

SlowBird is provided as-is. We work hard to make it reliable, but it comes with no warranty that it is error-free, and to the extent the law allows, Unseen Forms Limited's total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for your licence. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

The legal frame

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If we change them, the current version lives at this address, and the changes apply from when they are published. If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.
